Dowman urged to leave Arsenal immediately

Max Dowman has been advised to consider leaving Arsenal amid concerns over his long-term development under manager Mikel Arteta.

The teenage forward recently made headlines after becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history, further elevating expectations around his future. However, debate has now shifted toward whether he will receive sustained opportunities at senior level.

Pundit questions development pathway

Speaking on talkSPORT, presenter Adrian Durham raised concerns about Arsenal’s handling of young talents, pointing to the cases of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

“Max Dowman needs to leave Arsenal as soon as possible,” Durham said.

He argued that previous academy graduates have struggled to secure consistent roles in the first team, suggesting the environment may not be conducive to long-term growth.

“Dowman has seen Myles Lewis-Skelly’s career derailed by Mikel Arteta,” he added, while also questioning Nwaneri’s pathway.

Competition limits opportunities

Dowman’s route into the team remains complicated by competition in attacking areas. Established players such as Bukayo Saka continue to dominate selection, while recent recruitment has further increased depth.

Durham also criticised Arteta’s selection decisions in key matches, claiming opportunities for emerging players are limited even in difficult moments.

“He didn’t bring on the true starboy that saved Arsenal in the Everton game,” he said, referencing Dowman’s recent impact.

Call for career rethink

The talkSPORT presenter concluded by urging Dowman to prioritise his career development over club loyalty.

“Think about your career, go find a stage your talents deserve,” Durham said.

Despite the criticism, Arsenal remain on course for major honours this season, and the club continues to integrate youth into the squad.
