“Dollar was ₦1600 under…” – Man defends Tinubu, backs him for second term ahead of 2027 elections

A Nigerian man has stirred debate online after publicly expressing his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and calling on Nigerians to remain patient amid the country’s economic challenges.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), he argued that the All Progressives Congress (APC) under Tinubu’s leadership is exactly what Nigeria needs at this time.
He added that, by God’s grace, the APC will secure another term and that a better economy is possible if citizens continue to exercise patience.
In his words, he said:
“We have been patient. This is what has been damaged by several military governments. And now we are trying to do it right. So as far as I’m concerned, Nigerians are patient people. Let us be patient. We will get there.”
Highlighting some of the administration’s efforts, he pointed to the restoration of autonomy to local governments, claiming this was something former President Muhammadu Buhari never implemented.
“Our president is giving back autonomy to local governments. Now they have their resources and can handle their assignments instead of constantly going to secretariats to beg,” he added.
He also referenced the naira’s performance as another sign of progress, noting that “during the time of Buhari, the dollar was ₦1,600. Now it’s ₦1,400. You can see the hard work of that man.”
The statement quickly drew reactions online. One user wrote, Whether the naira is 1400 or 1600, life is still hard for most of us.” Another added, “It’s true patience is important, but the government also needs to make life easier for the common man.
As Nigeria heads toward the 2027 elections, the post has reignited discussions about the APC’s performance and the economy.
