“Does the Holy Spirit not call pastors to help the youth?” – Lady qestions why Nigerian clergy keep opening churches

A woman has ignited debate online after questioning the priorities of pastors in the country, asking why so many continue to open churches instead of ventures that could directly benefit communities.
Questioning pastoral priorities
Speaking passionately, she challenged the focus on expanding church infrastructure while other societal needs remain unmet.
“So you pastors, God always call you people to be opening church. After all the churches we have in Nigeria, God is still calling you people to be opening church,” she said.
She argued that the Holy Spirit rarely calls religious leaders to create industries or initiatives that empower youth and provide essential services.
“Holy Spirit and God does not call you people to infrastructure, to open industries to help the youth. It’s only to take from these people that don’t have, to open churches, to open altars,” she added.
Comparing churches with social services
The woman highlighted the imbalance between religious institutions and basic social infrastructure.
“All the churches we have in Nigeria is not even half of the schools or half of the hospitals we have, but you people are still opening more churches,” she said.
She concluded with a pointed question on the purpose behind the continued expansion.
“What do we want to use these churches to do? Opening branches up and down. Does the Holy Spirit not call pastors to open industries to help the youths, why are they still opening more churches?”
Her comments have sparked discussion about the role of religious leaders in societal development and the balance between spiritual guidance and community empowerment
