Diomande agrees personal terms with Real Madrid, PSG drop interest

Real Madrid have moved a step closer to signing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the highly rated Ivory Coast international.

The breakthrough comes after Paris Saint-Germain ended their pursuit of the 19-year-old, leaving the Spanish giants in pole position to complete the transfer.

Madrid take lead in transfer race

According to Fabrizio Romano, Diomande has accepted personal terms with Real Madrid on a contract structured similarly to Jude Bellingham’s deal, with performance-related incentives expected to increase his earnings over time.

Real Madrid are now negotiating a transfer fee with RB Leipzig and are expected to pay more than £100 million to secure the winger’s signature.

PSG reportedly saw a final bid worth £102.5 million rejected on Sunday before deciding to withdraw from the race.

Liverpool had also shown strong interest earlier in the transfer window, but the Premier League club ended its pursuit after an opening £69 million offer was turned down by Leipzig.

Leipzig face record sale

RB Leipzig are understood to have made significant efforts to keep Diomande, but the level of interest from Europe’s biggest clubs has made that increasingly difficult.

Club officials reportedly view the proposed transfer as a potential record sale for the Bundesliga side.

Real Madrid’s recruitment team, led by José Ángel Sánchez and chief scout Juni Calafat, are said to have monitored Diomande for around five years, with their interest predating his impressive performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Diomande enjoyed a breakthrough 2025-26 campaign, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists to win the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season award.

The Ivorian joined Leipzig from Spanish club Leganés last summer after previously developing at an academy in the United States, and now appears set to continue his rise with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
