The man, identified as @bissiriyu on X, explained that he only became aware of Destiny Boy after reports of the singer’s death surfaced on social media.
He said: “After news broke this morning that a certain 22-year old Destiny Boy had died, I began to do research on who the person was as I have never heard of the name until the news broke.”

Destiny Boy, whose real name was Afeez Adeshina, reportedly died at the age of 22.
News of his death became public on January 18, 2026, and quickly trended across various social media platforms.

While carrying out his research, the man said he came across different narratives concerning what may have led to Destiny Boy’s death.
He wrote: “I have read various narratives as regards what killed him and I have also seen a few videos of him including the one uploaded by his people showing him lying still with cotton wool in his mouth and ears.”
He added: “Two of the narratives are that he died at a herbalist house and also vomited blood before he died.”

The man further claimed that he saw another video during his research that raised serious concerns.
“I also saw another video showing him being initiated into a traditional cult,” he stated.
These claims have since sparked debates online, with many urging the public to avoid spreading unverified information.
