Deadline day: Manchester City seal €27m deal for Donnarumma

Manchester City have reached an agreement to sign Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth around €27 million.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper, who joined PSG on a free transfer from AC Milan in 2021, is expected to sign a five-year contract with an option for a further season.

According to SunSport, Donnarumma will earn €15 million in his first year at the Etihad, rising to €16m in his second and third seasons, and €17m in the final two years.

Donnarumma, who has been capped extensively for Italy and recently received a call-up from new national team coach Gennaro Gattuso for World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Israel, bid farewell to PSG supporters after their first home game on August 22.

During his time in Paris, he made 161 appearances and won four Ligue 1 titles, as well as lifting the UEFA Champions League in the 2024-25 season.

His departure marks the end of a four-year spell in France, as he now prepares to embark on a new chapter in the Premier League under Pep Guardiola.
