Creative thief disguised as cleaner caught and given “VIP beating” at Ikeja event
A man who disguised himself as a cleaner to steal valuables at an event in Ikeja met an unexpected end after CCTV operators monitoring the venue caught on to his movements.

The suspect, described by eyewitnesses as “too confident for a cleaner,” reportedly moved from table to table, lifting guests’ bags, phones, cash, and other belongings while pretending to tidy up.
His plan appeared smooth until security was alerted and swiftly closed in on him.
According to those present, the hall’s CCTV operator had been watching his suspicious behaviour for several minutes before raising the alarm.
The thief was intercepted as he attempted to leave the venue, leading to what attendees jokingly described as a “VIP beating” before he was handed over to security personnel for further action.
Event guests expressed both shock and amusement at the boldness of the act, noting how prepared the man seemed for his operation.
