Confirmed: Isak set for two-month layoff after Spurs clash

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Alexander Isak is facing an extended spell on the sidelines following the injury he sustained against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Sweden international fractured his left fibula after a sliding challenge from Spurs defender Micky van de Ven, an incident that occurred as Isak scored during Liverpool’s 2-1 win.

The club later confirmed that the forward underwent surgery for an ankle injury that included the fracture.

Slot acknowledged the scale of the setback, stressing that the injury represents a significant blow both for the player and the squad as Liverpool navigate a demanding phase of the season.

Slot labels tackle “reckless”

Speaking after the match, Slot made his stance clear on the nature of the challenge that led to Isak’s injury.

He described the tackle as reckless, pointing out that such challenges carry a high probability of serious injury.

The Liverpool boss admitted the situation was deeply disappointing, adding that Isak is now facing a recovery period potentially running into two months rather than weeks.
