Cole Palmer hailed as world’s best No.10

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has branded Cole Palmer the “best No.10 in world football” after the midfielder inspired Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League win over Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Making his first home league start since the opening weekend, Palmer wasted no time in reasserting his value.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring in the 21st minute, calmly finishing past Jordan Pickford after being teed up by Malo Gusto.

It was his first goal in three months following a lengthy injury layoff.

Terry backs Palmer over global rivals

Reacting after the game, Terry lavished praise on the England international, claiming few players worldwide operate better in the No.10 role.

“I’m not sure there’s anyone better in world football playing in that position,” Terry said. “He’s brave, always on the half-turn, finding pockets. For defenders, that’s a nightmare.”

Chelsea respond after tough week

Chelsea doubled their lead just before half-time, with Gusto turning scorer to cap a dominant first-half display.

Palmer was withdrawn on the hour to a standing ovation as Enzo Maresca managed his minutes.

Clean sheet adds confidence

Terry also highlighted Chelsea’s defensive solidity, singling out goalkeeper Robert Sánchez for praise as the Blues secured a rare clean sheet and moved back into the Champions League places.

Maresca and Palmer aligned

Maresca reiterated Palmer’s importance post-match, admitting Chelsea are “a better team” with him available.

Palmer, for his part, stressed the importance of stopping a poor run and building momentum.

Chelsea now shift focus to their EFL Cup quarter-final against Cardiff City before a testing league trip to Newcastle.
