The Borno State Police Command has dismissed reports of an attack on the convoy of Atiku Abubakar, that broke yesterday evening.

According to reports, the hoodlums vandalized vehicles in the convoy of Atiku at Ramat Square in Maiduguri, the state capital.

Reacting to the news, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sani Shatambaya said:

“The news of the attack on Atiku Abubakar’s convoy was not only fake but a false and mischievous attempt at confusing Nigerians. There was no attack on Atiku’s convoy.”

The police, however, paraded one Danladi Musa Abbas, 32, for “attempting to disrupt the escort of the presidential candidate on the way to the airport.”

Shatambaya said the suspect was nabbed with a stone and upon “sighting the police, he ran into a church where he was arrested.”
