Chelsea reject Dortmund’s ‘insulting’ bid for Chukwuemeka

Chelsea have rejected Borussia Dortmund’s offer for midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, describing the proposal as “insulting” as the club looks to generate funds and squad space for potential signings Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.

Dortmund’s bid was structured as a loan with an obligation to buy, but Chelsea were left unimpressed with the financial terms, preferring instead a permanent transfer at a valuation that reflects the 20-year-old’s potential.

Chukwuemeka, who joined from Aston Villa in 2022, has endured a stop-start spell at Stamford Bridge, with injuries and fierce competition limiting his appearances.

Despite being open to parting ways with the midfielder, Chelsea want a deal that aligns with their market expectations.

The Blues are under pressure to trim their squad before moving for key attacking targets Simons and Garnacho.

Several other clubs are monitoring Chukwuemeka’s situation, while Dortmund may yet return with an improved proposal.
