Champions League: Dembele named tournament’s best player, Doue claims best youngster
Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue have capped off a historic Champions League run with major individual honours, as UEFA named Dembele the Player of the Season and Doue the Young Player of the Season.
Dembele, 28, delivered a remarkable turnaround after early-season struggles that saw him benched for disciplinary reasons.
His switch to a central attacking role proved decisive, with eight goals powering PSG to their first-ever Champions League title.
“This is what leadership looks like,” PSG boss Luis Enrique said. “Dembele defended like a warrior, led like a captain, and performed like a Ballon d’Or winner.”
Though he didn’t score in the 5-0 final win over Inter Milan, Dembele’s relentless pressing and movement were instrumental, drawing widespread praise.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Doue confirmed his status as Europe’s brightest prospect.
The young midfielder set up PSG’s opening goal in the final and added two of his own, capping an explosive campaign.
