Carragher calls Amorim’s Man United reign ‘disaster’, urges him to quit

Jamie Carragher has urged Ruben Amorim to walk away from Manchester United, branding his tenure at Old Trafford “a disaster.”
The ex-Liverpool defender blunt assessment comes after United’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford, their third loss in six league games this season despite a £250m summer spend.
Worst Premier League return in United’s history
Amorim’s numbers make grim reading: just 34 points from 33 Premier League matches, 17 defeats, and last season’s 15th-place finish — United’s worst in the Premier League era.
A Europa League final defeat to Tottenham and a Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Grimsby compounded the crisis.

“Waiting for the inevitable”
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher said: “I think he’s still in a job because the powers that be at Man United have made that many mistakes on and off the pitch that they almost don’t want to admit right now that they’ve made another.
“This has been a disaster for Man United and Ruben Amorim. We’re only waiting for the inevitable.”
Carragher argued Amorim’s tactical system never suited United’s traditions and insisted both sides would be better off ending the relationship.
Amorim still “confident”
Meanwhile, the Portuguese coach, who impressed at Sporting Lisbon, has admitted in the past he would step aside without compensation if the club felt he was not the right man.
Dressing-room sources meanwhile describe players as “dispirited and astonished” by how quickly optimism has evaporated.
United have no successor lined up, and Amorim insists he remains “confident” of turning fortunes around.
“When you lose, you go back to the same place and you fight again for one win that can help you to create the momentum,” he said.
United next host Sunderland, aiming for a third straight league home win, something they have not achieved in over two years.
