CAF, PUMA introduce special gold-accented ball for AFCON 2025 final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and global sportswear brand PUMA have released a special edition match ball for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, adding a golden touch to Sunday’s title showdown in Morocco.

The commemorative ball will be used when hosts Morocco face Senegal in the final at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah, where Africa’s new champions will be crowned. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 local time.

Gold-accented ITRI ball to debut in Morocco vs Senegal final

CAF confirmed the development in a statement published on its official website on Friday, noting that the limited-edition ball was designed to honour both finalists and mark the climax of the tournament.

The ITRI ball, which has been used throughout the tournament, features a striking design inspired by traditional Moroccan zellij geometric patterns, including central star geometry, floral petal outlines, and circular symmetry.

“Built on PUMA’s advanced Orbita 6 technology, the ball combines heritage with innovation, meeting the performance standards required for elite-level competition while celebrating African culture,” the statement read.

The gold-accented version retains the core design of the standard ITRI ball, which has been in use since the start of the competition, but introduces additional visual elements to reflect the prestige of the final.

Sunday’s match will bring the tournament to a close after weeks of intense competition, record-breaking goals and dramatic knockout fixtures.

CAF and PUMA had earlier unveiled the ITRI ball ahead of the tournament, describing it as a symbol of African creativity and modern football technology.

With Morocco chasing a historic title on home soil and Senegal seeking to add another continental crown to their collection, the final is expected to draw massive attention across the continent and beyond.
