Burial of Aminu Dantata in Saudi postponed over incomplete documents – FG

The Federal Government has announced the postponement of the burial of renowned Nigerian businessman, Aminu Dantata, who passed away on Saturday in the United Arab Emirates.

Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, confirmed the development in an interview with the BBC on Monday, citing incomplete documentation as the reason for the delay.

According to Idris, the late industrialist’s body, which was initially expected in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, could not arrive as scheduled due to ongoing processes between Saudi authorities and the family.

“There are regulations set by the Saudi government on how to bring a body for burial in the country, so now the paperwork is being filled out between the Saudi government and the family of the deceased,” the minister explained.

He stated that the body would be transported from the UAE to Saudi Arabia as soon as the necessary documentation is finalised.

The minister also confirmed that both the family and the Nigerian embassy in Saudi Arabia have completed all other funeral arrangements, with the final burial awaiting the arrival of Dantata’s remains.

Aminu Dantata, regarded as one of Nigeria’s wealthiest businessmen and philanthropists, passed away at the age of 93.
