Bruno Guimaraes scores winner as Arsenal fight back to beat Leeds, revive title defence

Arsenal returned to Premier League action with a hard-fought victory over Leeds United, recovering from a second-half setback to keep their title defence on track.
The Gunners had made an impressive start to the campaign, winning their opening four matches while conceding just once. However, their 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break raised questions about their form heading into the resumption.

Leeds threatened to deepen those concerns with a disciplined performance at the Emirates Stadium, frustrating the hosts before taking the lead shortly after half-time.
Leeds strike first before Calafiori responds
The visitors were rewarded for their defensive organisation and attacking courage when James Justin fired them ahead 10 minutes into the second half.

Justin finished from Gabriel Gudmundsson’s pull-back, sparking celebrations among the travelling supporters. Leeds had waited since May 2003 to celebrate a league victory away to Arsenal, making the goal an especially significant moment.
Arsenal, who had struggled to find their rhythm, responded quickly. Riccardo Calafiori levelled the contest from close range after Ben White set him up, giving the home side a much-needed lift.
Guimaraes completes Arsenal comeback
Mikel Arteta then made three substitutions in an attempt to change the game, including bringing on summer signing Bruno Guimaraes, who arrived for a reported £75 million.
The changes helped transform the atmosphere inside the Emirates, with Arsenal showing greater urgency and fluency in attack.
Eight minutes after Calafiori’s equaliser, Guimaraes completed the turnaround with a low finish finish from the edge of the penalty area.
The victory provides a timely boost after their defeat to Brighton and keeps the Gunners in the title race.
Arsenal also closed the gap to Premier League leaders Manchester City, who remain top on goal difference ahead of their trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.
