Brighton’s Chiamaka Nnadozie tops WSL in saves, trails only two in efficiency

Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has emerged one of the standout performers in the Women’s Super League (WSL) this season, leading the league in total saves while ranking among the top three in save efficiency.

The Nigerian international joined Brighton during the summer transfer window after the expiration of her contract with Paris FC, where she spent five years.

Her performances have been nothing short of exceptional, earning her a nomination for the PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month for September after recording two clean sheets in four appearances.

According to Brighton’s official website, Nnadozie has made 22 saves so far, the highest tally in the league, proving her crucial role for the Seagulls this campaign.

Among the league’s most efficient goalkeepers

Despite facing a high volume of shots, Nnadozie has maintained an impressive 85% save rate, ranking just behind Aston Villa’s Sabrina D’Angelo (91%) and Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce (86%).

Her sharp reflexes, agility, and commanding presence have been widely praised, establishing her as one of Africa’s finest exports in European football.

Tough test ahead against Arsenal

Nnadozie is set for one of her toughest challenges yet when Brighton face European champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed a stellar year so far winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, being named Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament, and earning a historic nomination for the inaugural Women’s Yashin Trophy, becoming the first African goalkeeper ever recognised at the Ballon d’Or.
