Brentford open to keeping Bryan Mbeumo amid failing Manchester United, Tottenham links

Brentford director of football Phil Giles has hinted that Bryan Mbeumo could remain at the club next season, if interested clubs like Manchester United don’t meet their valuation.
Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford, preferring United over a potential reunion with former manager Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur.
With only one year remaining on his contract, Brentford face a risk of losing the Cameroon international for free in 2026 if a sale is not completed this summer.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Giles confirmed the club has received “big interest” in their top scorer but stressed they will not be pressured into a sale.
“It is not impossible he is still a Brentford player next season,” Giles said. “If it’s not the right deal, why would we do it?”
United have seen two offers rejected so far, but are expected to return with a third, improved bid.
However, Giles emphasized Brentford’s position: “He is certainly one of our best players, if not our best player, and we need our best players. There’s no harm in keeping your best players.”
