BREAKING: Tottenham sack Tudor after short spell

Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed head coach Igor Tudor after just seven matches in charge, bringing an abrupt end to his interim tenure following a poor run of results.

The decision comes after a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest left Spurs hovering just above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The north London club now sit 17th, with only a point separating them from the bottom three.

Tudor, who was appointed in February to replace Thomas Frank on an interim basis, managed just one point from five league matches, alongside a Champions League last-16 exit.

Poor results force early decision

Club officials moved quickly to end Tudor’s spell, despite his short time in charge, citing the urgent need to stabilise results ahead of the final stretch of the season.

In an official statement, Tottenham said: “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for Head Coach Igor Tudor to leave the Club with immediate effect.”

The statement added: “We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly… An update on a new Head Coach will be provided in due course.”

Tudor’s tenure also included a 7-5 aggregate defeat to Atletico Madrid in Europe, further compounding concerns over the team’s defensive frailties and lack of consistency.

Search for new manager begins

Tottenham are expected to appoint a new head coach in the coming days, with reports indicating the successor could be in place before their next league fixture against Sunderland on April 12.

In the interim, assistant coach Bruno Saltor will oversee training sessions for players remaining at the club during the international break.

With seven matches left in the campaign, Spurs face a critical period as they attempt to avoid relegation.
