BREAKING: Sevilla sack Akor Adams head coach Almeyda after poor run of form

Sevilla have officially dismissed head coach Matias Almeyda following a sustained run of poor results, the club confirmed in an official statement.
The decision comes after a 2-0 home defeat to Valencia, which left Sevilla 15th in La Liga and just three points above the relegation zone with nine matches remaining.
Sevilla confirm decision
In a statement released on Monday, Sevilla said: “Matías Almeyda has been relieved of his duties as Sevilla FC first team head coach.
“The club want to thank Matias Almeyda and his team for his efforts and professionalism and wish him the best for the future.”
Almeyda, Akor Adams boss, departs after overseeing 32 matches in all competitions since his appointment last summer, including 29 in La Liga and three in the Copa del Rey.
Almeyda’s struggles and suspension
The Argentine coach made a promising start to his tenure after arriving from AEK Athens, but results declined significantly in the second half of the campaign.
His situation was further complicated by a seven-match suspension following a confrontation with a match official, which kept him away from the touchline since mid-February.
Sevilla’s drop in form has increased pressure on the club, with relegation concerns now a major factor in the decision to make a managerial change.
The club are expected to move quickly to appoint a replacement as they look to stabilise their season and secure top-flight survival.
