Salah confirms Liverpool exit after emotional video

Mohamed Salah has announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, bringing an end to his long-standing spell at Anfield.

The 33-year-old confirmed his decision in an emotional video shared on social media on Tuesday, ending speculation about his future despite having a contract running until 2027.

Salah delivers emotional message

In the video, Salah said: “Hello, everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”

He added: “I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people, would become part of my life.

“Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion. It’s a history. It’s a spirit I can’t explain in words to anyone not part of this club.”

The announcement follows a challenging season for both player and club, including reported tensions with head coach Arne Slot.

Club confirms departure

Liverpool also released a statement confirming the decision.

“Mohamed Salah is to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career with Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025-26 season,” the club said.

“Salah expressed his wish to make this announcement to the supporters at the earliest possible opportunity to provide transparency about his future.”

The club added that the forward remains focused on finishing the season strongly before formal farewell events later in the year.

Next move uncertain

Salah, who joined from AS Roma in 2017, leaves as one of the club’s most influential players, winning major honours including the Premier League and Champions League.

He has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League, particularly Al Ittihad, while a switch to Major League Soccer has also been discussed.

With his departure now confirmed, attention will turn to his next destination as Liverpool prepare for a future without one of their modern greats.
