BREAKING: “How Arise TV Anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu died” – Police

Police have provided details surrounding the tragic death of Arise TV news anchor, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, popularly known as Sommie, who died during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.
Chaos Erupts During Robbery
According to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, armed robbers gained entry into “Unique Apartments,” a three-storey building with 18 flats, where the journalist lived.
At the time, two private security guards were on duty. One of the guards confronted the attackers but was shot, triggering panic and chaos throughout the compound.
Somtochukwu, who resided on the top floor, reportedly attempted to escape in fear.
Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, Ajao Adewale, explained:
“Out of panic, she jumped from the third floor. Sadly, the consequences of that fall are what we are dealing with today.”
She was immediately rushed to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors tried to save her.
“Doctors on duty did their best, including administering CPR,” Adewale said, “but unfortunately, she could not make it.”
Police Launch Investigation and Public Outcry
The FCT Police Command has established an investigative team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Adewale said: “All tactical resources are being deployed. No stone will be left unturned to ensure those responsible for this dastardly act are brought to justice.”

Her sudden death has sparked outrage and grief online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the country’s rising insecurity and demanding justice for the late anchor.
