BREAKING: Edo State Assembly Speaker Blessing Agbebaku resigns

The Edo State House of Assembly has been thrown into fresh uncertainty following the resignation of its Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku.
Agbebaku resigned from the position on Monday as some lawmakers reportedly moved to remove him through impeachment.

His media aide, Ivy Adodo-Ebojele, confirmed the development in a Facebook post.
“EDO ASSEMBLY SPEAKER RT HON CHIEF BLESSING AGBEBAKU RESIGNS,” she wrote.
Resignation amid impeachment moves
Although the exact reasons for Agbebaku’s resignation were not immediately disclosed, his exit came amid reported moves by some members of the Assembly to impeach him.
Adodo-Ebojele said more details about the circumstances surrounding the Speaker’s resignation would be made public later.
New leadership expected
Agbebaku’s departure is expected to trigger a fresh leadership process within the Edo Assembly.
Lawmakers will now have to decide on his replacement as the House seeks to resolve the latest leadership crisis.
