BREAKING: Crisis hits APC as woman Hafsatu Danladi declares herself National Chairman

A fresh leadership crisis appears to be brewing within Nigeria’s ruling party after a woman, Alhaja Hafsatu Danladi, publicly declared herself the authentic national chairperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a press statement released on Wednesday, Danladi challenged the legitimacy of the party’s current leadership and announced plans to seek legal redress.

Legal battle looms over APC leadership

Danladi stated that she would approach the Federal High Court in Abuja to contest what she described as an “illegitimate structure” currently managing the party’s affairs.

According to her, the move is aimed at restoring due process and protecting the integrity of the APC, which has in recent times faced internal disagreements over leadership and direction.

“I hereby assert my position as the true and authentic Chairperson of the APC,” she declared in the statement, insisting that her claim is grounded in legality.

Call for INEC intervention

As part of the legal action, Danladi revealed that she would also seek a court order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition from the party’s current National Working Committee.

She specifically named the NWC led by Nentawe Yilwatda as lacking legitimacy, arguing that allowing the leadership to continue would undermine democratic principles within the party.

This step is necessary to uphold the rule of law and ensure that due process is followed,” she added.
