Brand new $1M luxury yacht sinks just minutes after launching
A luxury yacht worth nearly $1 million has sunk off the coast of northern Turkey just 15 minutes after setting out on its first voyage, sending passengers and crew scrambling for safety.
The 85-foot vessel, named Dolce Vento, capsized and went under on Tuesday in the Eregli district of Zonguldak province. The dramatic video captured the yacht tilting to one side before plunging beneath the surface.
Reports said the yacht had only just been delivered to its owner from Istanbul. On board at the time were the owner, the captain, and two crew members, all of whom jumped into the sea and swam ashore uninjured.
The coast guard and port authorities swiftly intervened, securing the area around the sinking yacht.
Officials from the shipyard confirmed that the cause of the incident is under investigation, with technical inspections scheduled to determine why the vessel foundered so quickly after launch.
