“Bobrisky is just having fun, he’ll will go back to being a father” – Papaya Ex

Nigerian influencer Papaya Ex (real name Abike Halima Raheem) has once again stirred up the online community with some unexpected comments about fellow controversial figure Bobrisky during a recent appearance on Yanga 89.9 FM, a popular Pidgin English radio station in Lagos.
In the interview, which aired just days ago, Papaya Ex came to Bobrisky’s defense amid the endless criticism he faces for his lifestyle and gender expression.
She didn’t hold back, telling listeners: “If you’re mad at Bobrisky, you need to check yourself. I feel like he’s just having fun. Later in the future, Bobrisky will go back to being a father.”
Her point was clear—she views Bobrisky’s current persona as a temporary phase, not something set in stone.
“People evolve with time,” she added, urging everyone to let others live without constant judgment and negativity. It’s an interesting take, especially coming from Papaya Ex, who’s no stranger to drama herself.
For context, Bobrisky—born Idris Okuneye—has been one of Nigeria’s biggest internet sensations for years, famous (and infamous) for his cross-dressing, flamboyant style, and bold personality.
He’s openly identified as a transgender woman in recent times, even sharing updates about surgeries and his life abroad in the UK for “peace and freedom.”
But back home, opinions on him remain sharply divided, with many conservatives clashing over his choices in a country where LGBTQ+ issues are still highly sensitive.
What’s surprising here is that Papaya Ex and Bobrisky have a rocky history. They’ve traded shades and had public beefs in the past—think party fights, social media drags, and accusations of copying styles.
Yet in this interview, Papaya seemed to brush off any old grudges, focusing instead on positivity and ignoring haters. She emphasized channeling energy into good vibes rather than dwelling on negativity.
