Birmingham City sack manager, could contract Wayne Rooney – reports reveal

Wayne Rooney is reportedly on the radar of Birmingham City, following the club’s decision to part ways with John Eustace.

The club which currently occupies the sixth position in the Championship issued a statement on Monday, about the dismissal of the former coach Eustace.

“It is essential that the Board of Directors and the football management are fully aligned on the importance of implementing a winning mentality and a culture of ambition across the entire Football Club,” the statement read in part.

Eustace has been in charge of Birmingham City for 15 months, having joined in July 2022.

His tenure saw Birmingham City secure their Sky Bet Championship status with a 17th-place finish in his first season, and he helped the squad through tough periods.

While the club expressed gratitude for Eustace’s dedication, they also hinted at a forthcoming announcement of a new First Team Manager.

“The Club would like to thank John for his contribution. His dedication and work ethic was evident throughout his time in B9 and he will always be welcomed back to St. Andrew’s.

“A new First Team Manager will be announced in the coming days who will be responsible for creating an identity and clear ‘no fear’ playing style that all Birmingham City teams will adopt and embrace,” it added “The Club will be issuing no further comment at this time.”
