Beyoncé marks 45th birthday by bringing 2006 ‘B’DAY’ album back to life
Beyoncé has marked her 45th birthday with the release of a remastered version of her acclaimed second studio album, B’DAY, originally released in 2006.
The global music star celebrates her birthday on Friday, September 4, 2026, while fans also receive newly remastered versions of songs and visuals from the landmark album.

B’DAY was a significant project in Beyoncé’s career, featuring hit songs including Green Light, Get Me Bodied and Upgrade U. The album explored themes of confidence, liberation, audacity and compatibility.
Beyoncé revisits 2006 album
As part of the anniversary release, Beyoncé returned to the original recordings and worked on remastering the songs for the new edition.
The accompanying videos, which were originally filmed on 35mm, have also been remastered, re-coloured and finished in 4K. The updated visual release includes Déjà Vu, featuring her husband JAY-Z and directed by Sophie Muller.
Reflecting on the making of B’DAY, Beyoncé said, “I wanted the album to be big, percussive, hard, up-tempo, and energized, and it was important to me that we used live instrumentation.”
She also explained that she wanted to protect the foundations of R&B while embracing hip-hop’s growing influence at the time.

Beyoncé further stated, “The goal was to blend those two worlds through the art of sampling.”
The remastered B’DAY gives fans an opportunity to revisit one of the defining projects from the singer’s early solo career as she celebrates another birthday.
The release also highlights the lasting influence of an album that helped establish Beyoncé’s distinctive blend of R&B, pop and hip-hop.
