“Being Muslim in a Christian-dominated area during Ramadan is very difficult” — Woman says

A woman has shared her struggles observing Ramadan in a predominantly Christian neighbourhood, highlighting the challenges Muslims face in maintaining their religious duties amid a lifestyle she says discourages fasting and prayer.
Challenges of practicing faith
Speaking about her experience, she said:
“Only living in a Christian dominated country during Ramadan is very difficult. Imagine being the only person in an entire community fasting. Lots of music, the clubs, the alcohol, the nakedness, the eating and drinking everywhere.”
She further claimed that even Muslims in her area are struggling to observe the holy month due to cultural influences.
“Most people I know here that are Muslims aren’t even fasting or praying because they have been interjected into a lifestyle which makes it hard to perform their religion duties. May Allah make it easier on all the Muslims trying to hold on to their deen for the sake of ALLAH,” she added.
Her comments reflect the difficulties faced by religious minorities in maintaining traditional practices when surrounded by a contrasting majority culture, where social norms and activities may conflict with religious observances.
Observing Ramadan abroad
Muslims living outside majority-Muslim countries often face similar hurdles, from limited access to halal food and prayer spaces to social pressures that make fasting more challenging.
