Bayern Munich target Lookman on deadline day after Jackson deal collapse

Bayern Munich have turned their attention to Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman after their move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson fell through.

The Bundesliga champions had been set to sign Jackson, with the player already in Munich for a medical before Chelsea withdrew approval.

The London club reversed their decision after Liam Delap picked up an injury over the weekend, forcing Bayern back into the market.

According to Sky Sport, Bayern have submitted a loan offer for Lookman that includes an option to buy for €28 million, triggered if the Nigerian meets a set number of appearances. Atalanta, however, have so far rejected the approach.

Lookman, 27, had previously been in talks with Inter Milan, but the Bergamo club refused to strengthen a Serie A rival and Inter were unwilling to meet Atalanta’s demands.

Tottenham Hotspur and Galatasaray have also shown interest, though Spurs reportedly had a bid turned down as Atalanta value the player closer to €50m.

The forward, who scored 17 goals last season and is under contract until 2027, is keen to secure a move this summer.

Bayern remain the most serious contenders and are expected to push again before the transfer window closes today.

Failure to secure a transfer could leave Lookman at risk of being sidelined at Atalanta until January.
