Bayern Munich agree Nicolas Jackson loan with €80m buy option

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson on a season-long loan, with an option to buy set at €80m.

The German champions will pay a €15m loan fee and have also agreed to a sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on Saturday, noting that Jackson will fly to Germany with his agent, Ali Barat, for his medical ahead of the switch.

The 23-year-old Senegalese forward endured an inconsistent campaign at Chelsea, slipping to third choice behind summer arrivals Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

Despite showing signs of quality, his indiscipline and inconsistency saw him sidelined towards the end of last season.

Jackson, who still has eight years left on his Chelsea contract after joining from Villarreal in 2023, managed 30 goals and 12 assists in 81 appearances for the Blues.

He was part of the squad that lifted the UEFA Conference League earlier this year.

At Bayern, Jackson is expected to serve as backup to Harry Kane but could still be handed opportunities in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

The Bavarians see the deal as low-risk, given the loan structure and the long-term purchase option.

Recall Jackson had been linked with Newcastle United and Aston Villa before Bayern made their move. If he adapts well in Germany, Bayern may trigger the buy option to secure him permanently.
