Bashir Ahmad recounts what happened after he accidentally transferred N5M to wrong account

Former Presidential Aide, Bashir Ahmad, has narrated how he mistakenly sent ₦5 million to the wrong bank account and the swift intervention that saved the day.
In a post shared on X, Ahmad explained that the incident occurred early in the morning when he erroneously transferred the large sum to an unintended recipient.

Realising the costly mistake, he immediately contacted GTBank’s customer care line to report the issue.
According to him, while he was still in the process of filing the complaint, a notification came in from the bank informing him that the transfer had failed. The message stated that the account he mistakenly sent the money to was not authorized to receive such a high amount.
Just minutes later, GTBank reversed the entire transaction, restoring the funds to his account.
Expressing gratitude, Ahmad praised the bank for its quick response and efficient safeguards.
His words …
“I mistakenly made a N5 million transfer to a wrong account this morning. When I realized the error, I quickly called the GTBank hotline to lodge a complaint. Before I could finish the process, a message dropped from the bank notifying me that the transaction had failed because the account I mistakenly sent the money to wasn’t authorized to receive such an amount.
Minutes later, the bank reversed the transaction.
