Barcelona willing to pay £40m for Mason Greenwood, plus iconic No 10 Messi shirt

Barcelona are reportedly planning a £40 million summer bid to acquire on-loan Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.

The Spanish giants are also willing to offer the England international Lionel Messi’s iconic No 10 shirt as part of the deal.

Greenwood who is currently on loan at La Liga club Getafe, has been making waves in Spanish football with impressive performances, contributing five goals and four assists so far.

His efforts have seen Getafe climb eighth place in the league table.

While Getafe are keen on keeping Greenwood’s services permanently, Barcelona are preparing a substantial offer to bring him to the Nou Camp.

The offer includes the coveted No 10 jersey, which has been vacant since Ansu Fati’s loan move to Brighton in September this year.

Barcelona hope to entice Greenwood by presenting him with their legend’s former number.

Meanwhile, Greenwood’s career has seen a resurgence since his loan departure from Manchester United, all thanks to the playing time he gets at Getafe.

Earlier this year, charges against him for sexual assault were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service, clearing the way for his return to the pitch.
