Barcelona reach new agreement to re-sign Ghanaian midfielder

Barcelona have reached a new agreement to re-sign Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Azziz Issah on loan from Dreams FC for the 2025/26 season.
The 19-year-old is set to rejoin their reserve side, Barça Atlètic.
Despite arriving last summer, Azziz had minimal impact in his debut spell at the club, making only two appearances under then-coach Albert Sánchez, totaling 26 minutes of play.
The lack of game time came as a surprise, given his strong form in the Ghana Premier League, where he registered 12 goals and four assists in 61 appearances.
Sport reports that Barcelona initially declined the option to make his stay permanent but later negotiated a fresh loan deal.
Ghanaian journalist Saddick Adams claims the Catalan club paid around €1 million for the renewed agreement, after starting negotiations at €400,000.
However, Barça have not disclosed the financial details publicly.
Azziz has continued to shine at international level. He featured prominently in the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring once and earning a Man of the Match award in the quarterfinals, despite Ghana’s eventual penalty shootout exit to Egypt.
He also made his senior debut for the Black Stars in May during a 4-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.
Under new Barça Atlètic manager Juliano Belletti, Azziz will compete in Spain’s fourth tier.
