Barcelona push four-month Ter Stegen layoff to ease wage bill

Barcelona will officially report goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury as a four-month absence to La Liga.

This is despite the player publicly stating he expects to return in three months, in a strategic move to unlock salary cap relief.

As reported by AS, the club has completed the medical documentation, led by surgeon Amelie Leglise, following Ter Stegen’s recent back surgery.

The file will be submitted to La Liga’s medical committee in the coming days.

If approved, Barcelona can free up 80% of the German’s salary for new player registrations under La Liga’s long-term injury exemption.
