Barcelona offer Lewandowski reduced new contract

Barcelona have tabled a new contract offer to Robert Lewandowski, giving the veteran striker the option to extend his stay beyond next season amid growing uncertainty over his future.
The 37-year-old, whose current deal runs until 2027, has seen his role reduced this season, with Ferran Torres increasingly preferred in attack. Despite that shift, manager Hansi Flick has recently handed Lewandowski more starts in a bid to restore his form.
New terms reflect reduced role
Barcelona’s proposal reportedly includes a significant wage reduction, around 50%, offset by performance-related incentives that could boost his overall earnings. Club president Joan Laporta has already signaled publicly that he is open to keeping the experienced forward.
The offer is in line with Barcelona’s squad restructuring model, as the club looks to refresh its attacking options while maintaining experienced depth.

Squad planning and competition
Barcelona are actively targeting a new number nine this summer, raising questions about Lewandowski’s long-term role.
Internally, there is a view that accommodating three central strikers may not be sustainable, meaning one of Lewandowski or Torres could be moved on.
For Lewandowski, any decision to stay will likely depend on assurances over playing time and tactical importance, particularly with increased competition expected.
External interest remains strong
Despite the uncertainty, the Polish striker continues to attract interest from across Europe and beyond. Juventus and AC Milan are monitoring his situation, while a move to Major League Soccer, with Chicago Fire, has also been discussed.
There is also ongoing interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, positioning Lewandowski as a high-value target should he opt to leave Spain.
