Barcelona extend Koundé’s contract until 2030
Barcelona have officially secured the long-term future of Jules Koundé, with the French defender signing a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2030.
This move ends speculation linking the 26-year-old with a potential switch to Manchester City, who reportedly identified him as a possible replacement for Kyle Walker after opting out of a move for Tino Livramento.
Despite that interest, Koundé has opted to continue his journey in Catalonia.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal has been fully agreed upon by all parties, with the necessary legal paperwork approved and formalities expected to be finalised shortly.
Koundé, whose existing contract was due to expire in 2027, was a standout performer last season, racking up 53 appearances across all competitions and scoring four goals.
One of those came in the Copa del Rey final victory over Real Madrid.
With the extension confirmed, Koundé remains firmly in Barcelona’s plans heading into the 2025–26 campaign.
He is currently in pre-season training and is expected to feature in the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como on August 10, ahead of the La Liga opener against Mallorca on August 16.
