Ayra Starr opens up about past secret relationship that inspired her song ‘Where Do We Go’

Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has opened up about a past relationship, revealing that it was a secret and emotionally complicated situationship that only the two of them were aware of.

Speaking during her appearance on Way Up with Angela Yee, the “Rush” crooner explained that her friends repeatedly advised her to walk away from the relationship, but she struggled to let go because of an emotional bond she shared with her partner.

“It was a secret, unhealthy situationship, no one knew except us. My friends kept telling me to end it, but I loved him and kept going back because we had a real friendship,” she said.

Ayra Starr further revealed that the relationship, while deeply personal and meaningful, wasn’t progressing in the way she had hoped.

This uncertainty eventually led her to question the future of their connection and inspired her to write her song “Where Do We Go”.

“It wasn’t going anywhere, so I started asking myself: where do we go from here? I wanted it private, but at the same time, I wanted him to fight for me,” she shared.

The 23-year-old singer has, however, recently been the subject of rumors linking her to her colleague Rema, sparking speculation about a potential secret romance.

While neither artist has confirmed the reports, fans continue to closely watch their interactions for clues.
