Awujale: “You’re not our prince” – Ruling House rejects KWAM 1, presidency reacts

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu, Ogun State, has publicly rejected Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, insisting he is not a prince and has no blood ties to the families eligible for the Awujale of Ijebu throne.

In a statement released on Thursday, December 11, the ruling house debunked the singer’s claim that he belonged to the Jadiara Royal Family, calling the documents he presented “faulty and misleading.”

Letter Presented by KWAM 1 Declared Invalid

The ruling house explained that the letter KWAM 1 circulated as proof of his lineage did not follow official procedures and contained serious irregularities.

According to the statement, the Fuji star’s letter was signed two days after a man he identified as the family unit head, Omooba Adeyato Abayomi Oduyeye Erubobo, had already signed it—an arrangement the ruling house described as suspicious.

“Not Signed by the Real Family Head”

Another major issue raised was the fact that the letter was not endorsed by the authorised family head, contrary to KWAM 1’s claims.

The ruling house further stressed that Erubobo was not a registered member of the Jadiara Royal House, making his signature unacceptable for any official royal documentation.

“No Proof He Belongs to Us”

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House maintained that there was no evidence linking KWAM 1 to either the Jadiara Royal House or its own ruling family.

They insisted that his name has never appeared on any recognised list, record, or genealogy belonging to the royal structure.

Presidency Reacts Through Bayo Onanuga

Following the release of the rejection letter, President Bola Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, reacted by reposting the statement on his X page.

He wrote: Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu Ode, my home town, rejects Wasiu Anifowose a.k.a. KWAM 1’s claim to the Awujale throne.”
