Atletico Madrid emerge favourites to sign Antony

Atletico Madrid are reportedly leading the race to sign Manchester United winger Antony as they look to bolter their attack ahead of the 2025/26 season.

According to The i Paper, the Spanish giants have identified Antony as a key target following the collapse of their pursuit of Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, who is now close to joining Inter Milan after agreeing personal terms.

The 25-year-old Brazilian is expected to leave Old Trafford this summer, with United willing to part ways for a fee of around £30 million.

Antony impressed during his loan spell at Real Betis in the second half of last season, where he registered nine goals and five assists in all competitions.

While Betis are keen on bringing him back permanently, financial constraints have left them unable to meet United’s valuation.

Atletico, on the other hand, are well positioned to make a move, especially if they sanction the sale of Samuel Lino, who has been linked with a summer departure.

Atleti’s current right-wing options are limited, with Giuliano Simeone and Marcos Llorente, who often features at right-back, filling the role.

Manager Diego Simeone is understood to be in favour of bringing in a natural wide attacker, and Antony fits the bill.

Despite the growing interest, no formal negotiations have yet taken place between Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.

However, the Spanish club are now seen as front-runners should talks advance in the coming weeks.
