Atalanta challenge Lookman’s claims of ‘broken promise’

Tensions escalated on Sunday between Atalanta and Ademola Lookman after the Nigeria international accused the club of breaking a promise to let him leave this summer, following interest from Inter Milan.
Lookman issued a public statement on Instagram, claiming he was being blocked from joining Inter despite receiving assurances that he could exit if a suitable offer came in.
However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta gave a different version of the agreement.
Club sources insist the original agreement, made last summer when Lookman withdrew from the squad amid Paris Saint-Germain interest, was specific: any transfer would be to a foreign club, not a domestic rival.
This distinction, they argue, justifies their hesitation to sanction a move to Inter.
While Atalanta remain open to negotiations, they are demanding a higher fee, €50 million, well above Inter’s current offer of €42m plus €3m in bonuses.
