The discovery reportedly angered the client, who demanded that the entire toilet be redone at the contractor’s expense, turning what appeared to be a simple act of negligence into a costly setback.
Client demands replacement of toilet fittings
Sharing the incident, the man explained that the client did not limit her demand to cleaning the toilet after what she saw.
He wrote, “She got angry immediately. Told me to replace the entire WC, wall tiles, everything in that toilet.”
He added, “At my expense. She left in anger.”
Following the incident, the contractor gathered his workers in an attempt to identify the person responsible. However, according to him, none of them admitted to using the toilet without flushing.
As a result, he said he sent all the workers away from the site and was left to bear the financial consequences of replacing the toilet.
Contractor reflects on costly site experience
The man described the incident as one of the difficult sides of his work, noting that he deliberately shares setbacks alongside his successes.
He stated, “I don’t only post my wins. This is one of the losses.”
Reflecting on the challenges of managing workers on construction sites, he added, “Dealing with humans is the most difficult job on any site.”
The experience highlights how an apparently minor act of carelessness by a worker can create significant consequences for a contractor responsible for delivering a project to a client.
