Assassination Attempt: “No one can stop me” – Peter Obi reacts to warnings, confirms 2027 plans

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has insisted that no one can prevent him from visiting any part of Nigeria, highlighting that freedom of movement is a constitutional right for all citizens.

The statement comes in response to recent warnings circulating on social media and an assassination attempt in Benin City, which some claimed he should avoid certain areas.

Obi made the comments during a visit to Peter University, Achina, in Anambra State.

He stressed that he had previously traveled to Rivers State despite similar warnings, honoring a prior invitation without incident.

Obi also used the occasion to reiterate his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, this time under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), affirming his commitment to Nigeria’s democratic process.

“I am not desperate to be President, but I am determined to see Nigeria work,” he said, emphasizing the need for reforms that create opportunities and strengthen institutions.”

He added that his move from the Labour Party to the ADC was influenced by internal disputes within the party and concerns over how court decisions were handled, which led him to seek a platform better suited for the next electoral cycle.

Obi concluded by advocating for a Nigeria where talent and effort, not connections, determine success:

“We want a country where the son of a nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody,” Obi said.
