Olamide, another Nigerian musician, signed Asake to his YBNL Records label in February 2022. Olaitan Salaudeen plugged the single “Sungba” and Olamide’s breakout hit “Omo Ope” in his debut extended play, Ololade, which was released that same month. Asake and Empire inked a distribution agreement in July 2022.
On September 8, 2022, Asake’s first studio album, Mr. Money with the Vibe, was released. The tracks “Terminator,” “Peace Be Unto You,” and a Burna Boy remix of “Sungba” served as its backbone. The album smashed multiple records worldwide and was well-received by fans both in his native Nigeria and abroad. On the Billboard 200, the album debuted at number 66.
Asake sold out three nights at the O2 Academy Brixton in London when he launched the Mr. Money with the Vibe United Kingdom tour in September 2022. Later, two individuals passed away from their wounds: security guard Gaby Hutchinson, age 23, and concertgoer Rebecca Ikumelo, age 33.
Asake was named “artist of the year” by Audiomack in December 2022 after his first studio album, Mr. Money with the Vibes, received over 330 million streams. The platform then named Asake, Kizz Daniel, Snazzy the Optimist, and 1ucid among the most streamed and top trending artists in February 2023 after he released the Sega-inspired single “Yoga” in January 2023. The songs “2:30” in April and “Amapiano” featuring Olamide in May came next.
