Arthur Eze, a Nigerian millionaire and oil magnate, is the CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum. He is also the Pro-Chancellor of Peaceland University in Enugu, Enugu State.

Arthur Eze was born on November 27, 1948, in Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Anambra State, Nigeria. He was born into the royal family of Chief and Lolo Eze in Ukpo, Dunukofia.

Eze grew up among his siblings, some of whom are unknown to the world. But his elder brother, Igwe Robert Eze, is the monarch of Ukpo.

In Anambra, people have various nicknames for Arthur Eze. Some of these names include Ozoigbondu and Arthur N’Ukpo. Eze attended St. Augustin Secondary School in Nkwerre, Imo, and graduated in 1970.

He attended California State University, Long Beach, where he earned a degree in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering between 1974 to 1978.

Career

After returning to Nigeria, Arthur Eze experimented with a variety of businesses until founding Atlas Oranto Petroleum in 1991. This petroleum firm operates in several African countries, including Senegal, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, and Sudan.

Atlas Oranto Petroleum has achieved significant success by producing more over 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day. In addition to other businesses, the corporation added to Arthur Eze’s riches.

Eze established a business at the age of 43, which has since become the primary source of his tremendous riches. Atlas Oranto Petroleum is headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria, and holds 22 oil and gas licences across 12 African countries.

In 2013, he gave $12 million for the development of St Stephen’s Anglican Deanery and Youth Development Centre in Otuoke, Bayelsa State. Arthur Eze has also contributed much to his hometown of Ukpo.

He gave 5 million naira to the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) in Ukpo, Dunukofia Area, Anambra State.

Other significant charity activities: Created a medical research section for Nnamdi Azikiwe University. He improved the local market near the Ukpo Palace and worked on roads in Dunukofia.

In 2015, the Abagana community church received a 20 million naira donation for musical instruments and upgrades. Ebonyi State’s overhead bridge was built entirely by one person.

• Former President Goodluck Jonathan awarded him the ‘Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR)’ title in 2011.
