Arokodare rues ‘hurtful’ Wolves’ late collapse at Arsenal

Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has admitted Wolverhampton Wanderers’ 2-1 defeat to Arsenal was painful, blaming another late lapse in concentration for the setback at the Emirates.
Arokodare thought he had salvaged a point for Wolves when he powered home a 90th-minute header, cancelling out Sam Johnstone’s earlier own goal that had put the Gunners ahead.
Late goals still haunting Wolves
However, Wolves’ joy was short-lived as Bukayo Saka’s cross in stoppage time was turned into the net by defender Yerson Mosquera, condemning the visitors to another last-minute loss.
“It’s hurtful. It’s been happening to us all season,” Arokodare said after the match. “We play well for 90 minutes but concede in the last few minutes. It’s something we have to work on, staying focused until the final whistle.”

Defensive lapses prove costly
The Nigerian, who opened his Premier League account for the season after 11 appearances, admitted poor defending played a role in Arsenal’s winner but insisted Wolves were unlucky overall.
“There are positives,” he added. “We played against the best team in the league. Their first goal came from a corner and we came back into the game, but then we conceded again late.”
Arokodare targets improvement in attack
Arokodare also stressed the need for Wolves to be more clinical, noting the team must start converting chances consistently if results are to improve.
