“APC is just backward” — Davido reacts after Ooni of Ife praises Governor Adeleke

Afrobeats star Davido has stirred reactions online after describing the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “backward” while defending his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Davido made the remark after a video surfaced showing the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, commending Adeleke during the commissioning of the Ile-Ife flyover bridge and road dualisation project.

Reacting to the video, Davido questioned why anyone would want to stand in the way of development in the state.

The singer said, “APC is just backward. Why would they be doing anything to stop progress? I thought y’all were progressive?”

Davido takes campaign message to Osun

Davido did not stop there, as he also took a swipe at residents supporting the opposition party ahead of the Osun governorship election.

The singer stated, “Anybody supporting APC in Osun State is an enemy of progress. Lessons will be learnt this weekend”.

His latest comments come amid his growing involvement in his uncle’s re-election campaign in Osun State.

In April, Davido was appointed Youth Mobilisation for the campaign council supporting Adeleke’s bid for another term. He has since made appearances in the state, using his influence among young people to support the campaign.

At a recent rally, the singer explained that despite recently releasing an album and being on tour, he chose to return to Osun because he wanted to see developments in the state for himself and genuinely cared about his people.

Davido’s political involvement sparks attention

Davido’s involvement in Osun politics has continued to attract public attention, particularly because of his family connection to Governor Adeleke.

The singer previously campaigned for his uncle during the last governorship election and celebrated publicly after Adeleke emerged victorious.

His latest criticism of the APC has now added another layer to the ongoing political contest in Osun, with his comments generating conversations among supporters of the two major political camps.
