Any politician offering to serve for one term needs psychiatric examination– Gov Soludo

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has stated that any politician promising to serve only one term likely needs a psychiatric evaluation.
He made the remark during a rally in Anambra South where supporters endorsed his bid for a second term. Soludo challenged proponents of the idea to cite any real instance where such a promise had been fulfilled.

According to him, the Nigerian Constitution permits two terms in office and doesn’t impose a one-term restriction.
His comments follow a recent statement by former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who said he would accept a coalition deal requiring him to serve just one term and transfer power to the North by 2031, stressing that integrity and character are more important to him than clinging to office.
He said …
“How can anybody with brain…you think you are talking to fools….you come to people and say ‘I will do only one term. Any politician who said that must be sent to a psychiatric home because the person must have some mental problem.”
