Anthony Elanga set for Newcastle medical ahead of £55m switch from Nottingham Forest

Newcastle United have reached a full agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Swedish winger Anthony Elanga in a deal worth up to £55 million, including bonuses.
The 23-year-old, who featured in all 38 Premier League games for Forest last season, is expected to undergo a medical within 48 hours before signing a five-year contract at St James’ Park.
The transfer marks a major attacking boost for Newcastle ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Magpies’ improved offer of £52 million plus add-ons sealed the deal after an initial £45 million bid was rejected.
The Athletic confirms that Elanga has accepted personal terms and is scheduled to join his new teammates later this week.
Elanga was one of Forest’s standout performers during the 2024/25 season, registering 17 goal contributions and playing a crucial role in their seventh-place finish and Europa Conference League qualification.
Manchester United, who sold Elanga to Forest in 2023, are set to benefit financially from a sell-on clause.
Newcastle’s renewed push for the former United academy graduate follows last summer’s failed attempt.
