American streamer Kai Cenat touches down in Nigeria for second time

Popular Twitch streamer and content creator Kai Cenat has touched down in Lagos for his second visit to Nigeria, drawing attention to his long-promised school project for underprivileged children.

Cenat was received at Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday with live music and a festive welcome, instantly creating buzz on social media platforms.

Arrival sparks social media buzz in Lagos

Nearly a year after his initial trip, Cenat’s $5 million pledge to build a school for children in the Makoko waterfront community is still in progress.

Early delays were attributed to land acquisition and regulatory hurdles in the floating settlement, prompting a relocation of the school site to Yaba, an area with more stable infrastructure.

Cenat confirmed that children from Makoko would still benefit from free education once the school opens.

During Mafiathon 3, Cenat revealed that more than $1 million has been raised so far for the initiative.

He also outlined plans for phased spending to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability, emphasising the aim to construct a lasting educational institution rather than rush the build.

The streamer’s return has sparked renewed enthusiasm among Nigerian fans, with many hopeful that the visit will accelerate tangible progress.

However, some social media users continue to call for clearer timelines and visible work on the ground.

Cenat’s visit coincides with growing international interest in Nigeria from other global streamers.

$5 million school project updates revealed

Just weeks ago, fellow American streamer IShowSpeed toured Lagos, drawing large crowds and viral moments during his interactions with fans and local creators.

The back-to-back visits underscore Nigeria’s emerging influence in global digital culture.

With Cenat back in Lagos, public attention remains focused on whether this second trip will translate into concrete actions to bring his ambitious school project to fruition.
